TubeMogul, an enterprise software platform for brand advertising, announced today the appointment of two senior digital industry executives to spur growth in its China and Southeast Asia operations.
The company announced Jeffery Zheng has been appointed Managing Director, Greater China. He previously held senior positions with Ogilvy & Mather, Yahoo!, and Renren, in Taiwan and China. Zheng has also spearheaded campaigns for Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Unilever, Adidas, and P&G in the Greater China region, and was recently VP of Marketing for Touchmedia, the largest in-taxi interactive media company in China.
In his role at Touchmedia, Zheng was part of the team that worked at Tencent to create an online payment system and was part of the Yihaodiain ecommerce project, known as O2O. The company operates in seven cities across China, reaching 70 million passengers per month.
The Southeast Asia operations will be headed by Darin Williams, who has worked in Asia for more than fifteen years in executive roles at Nielsen, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
Williams worked in senior roles for Nielsen in Japan, Australia, Korea, and Vietnam over a fourteen-year period, and is former Director of Facebook’s Southeast Asia offices. Williams was previously Head of Talent Solutions, LinkedIn, Southeast Asia.
TubeMogul launched in Southeast Asia three years ago and has established a sales, trading and operations team that delivers programmatic video advertising campaigns across ten markets in the region. This year TubeMogul opened its office in Shanghai, and expects to substantially expand its China operations next year.
“I am extremely confident that both Jeffery and Darin will bring a new level of energy and strategic focus to TubeMogul in China and Southeast Asia,” said Susan Salop, Vice President of Asia, TubeMogul. “The last two years have been extremely dynamic for TubeMogul due to our focus on delivering new and innovative software tools to advertisers, and we plan to work closely with agencies, trading desks, publishers and brands to ensure they get the best possible results.”
Salop added: “With over three years presence, TubeMogul was one of the first programmatic video demand-side platforms in the region, and we have invested considerably in agency partnerships and education. We forecast that the Southeast Asia and China video advertising markets will mature substantially in the next few years, and both Jeffery and Darin will ensure we succeed in that mission of brand advertising more simple, accountable and transparent.”
