PubMatic, the programmatic advertising platform company for leading publishers, today announced plans for a significant expansion of its operations in India. The investment will see around 100 new employees join the team, about 80 in technical roles, while a new office in Pune will see PubMatic double in size to 58,000 sqft over the next 12 months. This follows an extended period of growth for the PubMatic’s EMEA workforce, which has increased by 180% since January 2013.
PubMatic was founded in Pune in 2006 and has since grown from two to nearly 300 India-based employees with the company now the biggest hi-tech product employer in the city. Over the next 12 months, PubMatic will aim to deliver key technology initiatives out of Pune, continue developing local talent, and help drive sales in APAC, Japan and Australia.
“PubMatic has grown dramatically since its founding in Pune, and now has employees on the ground in the USA, UK, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore and Australia as well. We have leveraged India’s rich pool of technology talent to bring new and exciting technological innovations to the global advertising technology market,” said Rajeev Goel, CEO and co-founder at PubMatic. “Pune, and India as a whole, are very important parts of PubMatic’s heritage, and we know they will be equally important to the future of the company. Our new office in Pune is the start of the next phase of growth for PubMatic’s operations in India. We will be hiring around 100 new employees in Pune, about 80 of them engineers, and we want to make the city a real hub of ad tech development. We are part of an exciting and fast-evolving industry and we’re delighted to be growing our presence here.”
PubMatic’s plans for India will help it tap into the country’s rich pool of technology talent, which produces 1.2m engineering graduates every year1. Such skills are vital to PubMatic’s work in innovative areas of advertising technology such as the automated trading of ads through programmatic and real-time bidding, big data, machine learning and algorithms, mobile and video advertising, direct and mobile advanced targeting.
“Hiring highly skilled engineers is absolutely vital to PubMatic’s success globally and Pune plays a key part in this. Our engineers create industry-leading solutions. For example, we developed an ad-server and transaction automation technology that processes over 100 billion online transactions per month. The big data system developed by our engineers supports over 100 gigabytes of data transfer per second, stores and processes over five petabytes of data in our data centers,” commented Mukul Kumar, co-founder and SVP of engineering. “We’re looking for newly graduated engineers to join a highly skilled team that’s delivering exciting and innovative product and technology initiatives. We need people who combine technical knowledge with the drive to innovate, and we believe our investment in India will help us achieve this.”
